What binds us, liberates us in one moment and connects us in another.
Bonding is an art of presence and release. The work creates a space for the audience to reflect on their relationship to commitment and to letting go. Strongly rooted in visual expression and video art, the piece highlights physicality and humanity with striking sensitivity. Themes of binding and unravelling are explored through visual storytelling and choreography, leaving room for each viewer’s own personal journey.
Drawing on Japanese rope practices, Bonding moves in the borderlands of contemporary dance, butoh, physical mime and clowning, each form commenting on the others. Its distinctive movement language and soundscape, together with its dazzling visual world, weave a multidimensional and deeply affecting experience that gently challenges the traditional seriousness of artistic dance.
Our production partner for the performance has been Ulvilan köysipunomo, providing high‑quality, handcrafted ropes for all kinds of uses.
