Pori Dance Company was founded in 1989 by choreographer-pedagogue Liisa Nojonen and is known for its skillful and multitalented artists, international collaborations and wide repertoire. Among the closest values to our hearts is to advance tolerance and humane values through dance - and its various forms, endless possibilities and deep roots. We wish to carry a message of physicality through which one can have the possibility to explore the imagination. Henceforth through the creative processes we wish to aim towards uncompromised results not fearing crossing the cultural boundaries by creating works that touches and breathes through times.
Pori Dance Company finds it essential to make dance more known and accessible to people of all ages. Yearly the company creates various works, arranges workshops and classes together with educative programs while collaborating with various cultural fields to make different projects see the light of day or night if it be so.
Pori Dance Compamy's repertoire has works from acclaimed choreographers such as Tero Saarinen, Jorma Uotinen, Marjo Kuusela and Alpo Aaltokoski as well as from younger choreohgraphic talents such as Carl Knif, Ima Iduozee, Riku Lehtopolku, Mikko Lampinen and Geon Hyauk Jin. The company performs regulary outisde its hometown Pori and has been touring widely around the globe.
